The Cosumnes River Hawks (CRC) swept Feather River College in the first round of the CCCAA playoffs last weekend at the CRC Softball Field. The Hawks won the opener 4-1 Friday and completed the sweep with a 5-2 win on Saturday. CRC moves on to play at San Jose City College in a best-of-three series starting May 13.
"The team played with great energy, and we had hitting throughout the entire line-up," said head coach Kristy Schroeder. "Ashlee obviously pitched well, and Tamisha didn't get out all weekend."
In game one, the Hawks knocked out ten hits. Tamisha McBride went 3-3 and scored a run. Ashlee Toy was 2-4 with a double and also tacked on a run. In the circle, Toy struck out seven and earned her 22nd win of the year.
The Hawks jumped to an early 2-0 lead in game two and never looked back. Leandra Coronado led the Hawks going 3-4 with three RBI. McBride stayed hot with two more hits and a run scored.
CRC looks to keep the hits coming as they head to San Jose where they dropped a double header earlier in the year.
"If we continue to play how we have been playing, we will give ourselves a chance to win. We played them before, so there will not be any surprises," added Schroeder
