Sweep of DVC Pushes Hawks into Second

In their first home, Big 8 doubleheader, the Cosumnes River Hawks (CRC) swept Diablo Valley College (DVC) on Saturday 3-1 and 12-0.

Kailee Toy led the team in game one going 2-2 with a run scored. Layla Towner and Brooke Hanson both had RBIs for the Hawks. Offensively, CRC exploded in game two. Sara Babby knocked in 4 runs on three hits. Toy stayed hot going 2-2 with a double as did fellow middle infielder Malia Babasa. Abigail Woodfill went 3-3 with an RBI and a run scored and Avery Jolly scored twice to help the Hawks earn a five-inning run rule victory.

"We didn't start out that great offensively," commented head coach Kristy Schroeder. "However, in game two we turned it around and took care of business at the plate. It was a fun afternoon."

CRC's duo of Tatiana Blas and A.J. Dahdouh once again had total command in the circle. In the opener Blas held the Vikings in check striking out eight and giving up just one run. Dahdouh closed out the day by shutting out DVC in quick fashion striking out three over five innings.

The Hawks are back in action Tuesday when they host Modesto Junior College.
