Hawks Close Out Regular Season With Record-Setting 33rd Win

On the final regular season game, the 8th-ranked Cosumnes River softball team defeated the visiting Santa Rosa Bearcubs 8-1. With the win, the Hawks finish 33-7 which is the most regular-season wins in school history and ties the mark for most wins in a season. The Hawks also secured a CCCAA playoff berth and finished second in the Big 8 Conference.

 "It was a great day," said head coach Kristy Schroeder. "Almost all of our sophomores were able to play today, and we performed great. We had lots of support from the families too. It was the perfect way to end the regular season."

Tatiana Blas won her 22st game in the circle and finished the season with a league-leading 1.24 ERA. Offensively, the Hawks had a balanced attack. Malia Babasa, Abigail Woodfill, and Brooke Hanson each had two hits for CRC and nine total Hawks had a hit. A.J. Dahdouh scored twice while six other Hawks scored.

Prior to the game, CRC honored one of its biggest graduating classes in recent years. Babasa, Sarah Babby, Blas, Jennifer Bowen, Dahdouh, Emily Johnson, Avery Jolley, Makenzie Sorenson, Layla Towner, and Kalie Toy will all seek to the lead the Hawks back to the CCCAA State Championships when the playoffs open on May 3.
