Trina Shaner's buzzer beating shot gets Hawks Conference play started in style!

The Hawks got their Big 8 Conference schedule off to the best start possible with a thrilling last half second victory over Modesto Jr College at Modesto.

CRC got the ball back down 63-61 with 10 seconds left with a specific play in mind from CRC Head Coach Coral Sage, "We wanted to run a little screen for Trina and she was open for the shot and when she took it I thought "Oh my gosh it's offline"".  Shaner hit the shot off the glass leaving just .5 on the game clock as the Hawks won their opener.

Trina Shaner only had 6 points on the night but both baskets were three pointers for the Hawks.

Daija Ward continued her solid play this year with 14 points, 9 rebounds and 4 steals for her nights effort. Jasmine Chapman had 13 points while Nayani Gordon added 12 on a very efficient 5-7 from the field although she struggle from the foul line going just 2-8. Gina Ingravallo had a stat filling line with 10 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 5 steals.

The Hawks trailed by one at halftime 28-27 before coming out in the third and fighting for a 17-11 advantage in the quarter setting up the final period's high scoring excitement.

With the victory the Hawks are one of four teams atop the Big 8 Conference with 1-0 records and CRC is now 5-9 overall.

Next up for the Hawks is a home game in the CAC on Friday at 7:30 against Santa Rosa who come in with an 0-1 conference record and 5-10 record overall.
