The Cosumnes River College Hawks (3-6) fell at home to the Yuba 49ers (6-4) after a long battle on Tuesday night. The Hawks were coming off a huge win over Santa Barbara and were looking to defend their home court against Yuba. The Hawks have been playing great defense all year holding opposing teams to just 55.7 points per game on average. The Hawks faced a challenge on Tuesday night, as they faced a fast paced and aggressive 49er's team. The team allowed a season high points from the 49ers as they found it hard to contain the outside shots as well as the strong post play.

Cosumnes was lead by sophmore guard, Arionna Butts who poured in 24 points while going 9-9 from the free throw line. Butts has been the main catalyst for the Hawks on both the offensive and defensive end. Freshman forward, Chelsea Shirley also helped in the effort with 10 points and 5 rebounds. Shirley has been a consistent force for the Hawks as she is tenacious on the glass, often giving teams problems. The Hawks also got a push from freshman center Tamia Grey, who came off the bench and had 9 points and was the anchor on the defensive end as she drew 3 charges.

The Hawks look to bounce back next week in the three day Solano Showdown tournament. Cosumnes will open the tournament against Chabot on Friday, December 13th at 5pm.
