SOCCER FIELDS DEBUT TODAY

SOCCER FIELDS DEBUT TODAY

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Today marks the debut of the newly-constructed CRC Soccer fields.  The first matches will be played today, as the CRC men’s and women’s soccer teams open their 2013 schedules.  The Cosumnes River College men will play host to the Golden Eagles of Feather River College, while the Hawks women will host the Falcons of Solano College.

The Hawks women head into the today’s opener against Solano relatively healthy, and the coaching staff anticipates the Hawks will put forth a quality performance.  Historically, CRC has performed well against the Falcons, having eliminated them in postseason contention in years past.  With that being said, the Falcons are still a perennial playoff team, consistently ranked in the region's top ten.

The CRC men will host Feather River, who Head Coach Ron Preble believes the best preparation is for the team to play their game, their way.  "We haven't seen them in a few years, and we don't know much," says the coach with respect to the Feather River program.  "They're a different kind of program due to their recruiting area.  They're unpredictable," commented Preble on the team's personnel.

This will be the inaugural season for the CRC Soccer Fields.  The finishing touches have been added to the facility which houses two FIFA regulation fields.  The soccer fields will be the home for the Cosumnes River College men's and women's soccer teams.

Seating capacity is approximately 200 in the new facility, with hybrid Bermuda grass on the two 120 x 80 fields.  New parking lot construction at the entrance of the complex provides greater accessibility to fans and students to the facility.

Cosumnes River will share this facility with the state's best, when they host the 2013 CCCAA Men's and Women's State Soccer Championships later this year.

Kick-off for the men is scheduled for 4:30, while the men’s match is scheduled to begin at 5:30.  Tickets are $6 for general admission, $4 for seniors, and $2 for children.  Admission is always free for CRC students, staff and faculty.  Concessions will be available to purchase at the event.
