Hawks Get Big Road Win Over Folsom Lake College

Folsom, Calif. The Lady Hawks traveled to highly ranked Folsom Lake College with one thing on their mind. They wanted to shock the Big 8 with a big road victory.

It was the 56th minute and all was tied when sophomore Obioma Onejeme pressed the Folsom backline and stole the ball from the right back. She took a touch towards goal when Folsom's center back came over to challenge Onejeme, but she was not strong enough as she hit the turf and Obioma Onejeme went to goal against the goal keeper and put the ball in the back of the net. The tide turned at moment and the Hawks were inspired to not let the lead slip.

An amazing performance from the Lady Hawks back line lead by sophomore Evelina Fedchuk and freshmen Ashley Lamm helped the Hawks keep the ball out of our net. A full team effort was needed to take and keep the lead against highly ranked Folsom. The Falcons did not quit and kept pushing number forward in an attempt to tie the game. 5 big saves by sophomore goal keeper Tanayjah Tamano helped keep the clean sheet for the Lady Hawks.

The Lady Hawks kept attacking and found the goal again in the 78th minute when freshmen forward Helaina Garcia slipped Obioma Onejeme behind the Folsom back line and she scored her 2nd goal of the game.

The Lady Hawks kept the clean sheet and won the game 2-0. Coach Cesar said after the game, "I'm very proud of this great group of young ladies, they battled and worked hard all game. They deserved the win and I'm excited for the rest of league play and things to come."
