Lady Hawks Sweep Modesto This Season
Modesto, Calif. The Lady Hawks come home with a 1-0 victory from Modesto.

The Lady Hawks had a dominant performance on the road against the Modesto Pirates on Friday. The offense looked dangerous throughout the first half creating many chances. Lead by freshmen forward Elissa Ascencio who had 3 shoots in the first half. A dominant performance by the defense allowed the the Hawks to go forward often and frequently in the first half. A great performance by the Pirates goalkeeper helped the pirates to a 0-0 halftime score.

After a good halftime talk the Lady Hawks turned it on even more. Creating more dangerous chances on goal. Sophomore forward Obioma Onejeme started to take over the right side of the field constantly beating her defender and serving dangerous balls into the box. The game changed for the Hawks when sophomore Bailey Bradford went on a run out of our own half to goal. She then found freshmen Hannah Salinger behind the backline who took a touch then buried the ball in the back of the net in the 65th minute of the game. The Hawks kept going forward in hopes of getting a 2nd goal and putting the game away. The 2nd goal never came, but the defense determined to keep the clean sheet did not disappoint. Behind 5 big saves from sophomore Tanayjah Tamano the Hawks held on to the 1-0 win.

Next up for the Hawks is topped ranked Delta College Tuesday at home. Followed by a rivalry game at American River College.
