Modesto, Calif. A first half own goal helps the Lady Hawks get back on track as they beat Modesto JC on Tuesday afternoon. 

Winning on the road for the first time in this season and recording our first shutout in 8 matches the Lady Hawks move to a (2-7-2, 1-2 Big8). 

The Hawks started fast and created many chances on goal early and often. The attack was lead by freshman Nariyah O'Brien using her skill and speed to beat the Modesto backline. The best chance came early in the first half when O'Brien beat 2 defenders then cut back at the top of the box and put the ball on frame. An amazing save by the Modesto goalkeeper kept the game tied at 0-0. The breakthrough came in the 37th minute when freshman Lakshmi Vallabhaneni beat defender and played a ball to freshman Chioma Onejeme. Onejeme got in behind the Modesto defense and crossed the ball. It deflected off the Modesto defender and ended up in the back of the net. Hawks up 1-0 at the half. 

Second half started with both teams fighting for every ball and CRC trying to put the game away while Modesto trying to tie up the match. Lady Hawks created many chances in the 2nd half, but the Modesto goalkeeper had many impressive saves. Freshman goalkeeper Angelina Martinez and sophomore Ryanne Chapman combined for the match shutout and win.

Next up for the Lady Hawks we host Folsom Lake College on Friday. Lady Hawks look to upset number 1 ranked Folsom.
