Hawks Take Down Cañada

Sacramento, Calif. Lady Hawks hosted Cañada for a non conference match were the Lady Hawks looked to get back on track. A 64th minute goal by Jaeda Wilson helped secure the Haws 3-2 victory on Friday.

Winning at home for the first time in five matches the Lady Hawks get back to winning ways. Lead by a strong showing by the Hawks offense they got out to and early lead.

The first goal of the match came when freshman Nariyah O'Brien beat 2 defenders down the line and served a perfect ball into the box. Freshman Lakshmi Vallabhaneni made a well timed run into the box and got on the other end of the cross and put the ball in the back of the net to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead 16 minutes into the match. With no signs of slowing down the Hawks kept attacking and were rewarded in the 21st minute when freshman Jaeda Wilson score from a Elissa Ascencio cross. Hawks went into the half with a 2-0 lead.

Lady Hawks did not stop with the pressure and manage to create many chances in the second half. The second half breakthrough came in the 64th minute when freshman Marie Madril played a ball in behind the Cañada back line. Wilson got the ball and put the ball away for her 2nd goal of the match. Two late goals by Cañada made the match closer than it really was. Hawks held on and closed the game for a 3-2 victory.

Lady Hawks are back in action on Tuesday as we host Sacramento City College at 3:30pm. We will be celebrating Sophomore Day as well. Come out and support your Lady Hawks as they make a playoff push.
