Strong Front Helps Carry Hawks to Victory in Yuba

Marysville, CA - The Hawks (6-2) traveled to Yuba College (1-1) to take on the 49ers in a familiar location for Head Coach Kari Nahlen. Coach Nahlen is a third generation coach at the junior college level, with both her mother and grandmother being coaches at Yuba College. Yuba marked the last road game for CRC in their preseason schedule. The Hawks rose to the occasion, sweeping Yuba College in strong fashion (25-15, 25-10, 25-14).

Defense was the difference maker for the Hawks as they combined for 33 blocks in the 3-set match (2 solo, 31 combo). Miah Williamson, a Sophomore middle from West Campus High School, tallied 12 combo blocks for the Hawks. Maddy Motta closed the block to tally 9 combo blocks of her own. Freshmen Middle Julia Zamfir, and Pin Hitter Haley Sanchez, both came off the bench to post 2 combo blocks, adding to the Hawk total. Aija Redding led the Hawks backline with 15 digs followed by Victoria Espinoza's 10 digs.
