Unable to Overcome Slow Start, Hawks Fall to Delta in Close Match

Stockton, CA - Heading into the second half of conference play, the Hawks traveled to take on #25 ranked Delta College. After being unable to get on the same page in their last matchup, CRC looked to put together a much stronger product on the court. The Hawks started slow, but were able to gather momentum for the next few sets. Ultimately CRC fell 0-3 (12-25, 18-25, 23-25), but the second and third sets were much closer. The Hawks were able to play 13 of their players as opposed to the 8 of Delta. 

The offense never quite going, with the Hawks combining to hit .159 on the match, but did post a .357 in the third set. Aija Redding led the team with 8 kills, followed by 5 from Emma Eigenberger and Miah Williamson. Both Giovanna Parino (12 assists) and Grace Maddock (13 assists) tallied double digit assist totals. 

Defense tallied 56 total digs with Aija Redding setting the tone with 19 digs. The Hawk front line tallied 8 blocks compared to the 4 of the Mustangs. Maram Mahfouz and Miah Williamson both tallied 2 assisted blocks with Emma Eigenberger, Haley Sanchez and Julia Zamfir getting in on the action as well. Maddy Motta tallied the lone solo block for the Hawks.

Up Next - The Hawks (13-8) return home to face conference foe in Folsom Lake College Falcons (8-15). In the last matchup, the Hawks emerged victorious in a 5 set thriller after being down 0-2 to start the match. No fans will be allowed for the home match, but the match will be live streamed via crchawks.com. Gametime will start at 6:30pm with the livestream starting 10 minutes before the match.
