Hawks Win Thriller at Home, Sweep Season Series

Sacramento, CA - Coming off a close loss to Delta College, the Hawks looked to regroup against the visiting Falcons (8-15 prior to match). The match proved to be a great one, once again lasting five sets including a furious comeback by CRC in the last set. The Hawks played a well-rounded game combining for 61 kills, a .228 hitting percentage, 118 digs, and 18 blocks. '

The offense was carried by the two captains for the Hawks, Miah Williamson and Aija Redding. Williamson tallied 18 kills on 36 swings, with Redding tallying 16 kills on 40 attempts. Emma Eigenberger and Julia Zamfir both tallied 8 kills to help carry the load for the Hawk offense. Sophomore Giovanna Parino picked up her 6th double-double of the season with 30 assists and 13 digs. Aija Redding also picked up a double-double with 16 kills, and 31 digs. Grace Maddock tallied 25 assists to help set up the offense for success. Williamson and Redding also each contributed 3 service aces on the match. 

Defense cannot be overlooked as a key to tonight's success. Four Hawks tallied double-digit dig totals as part of the season high 118 dig effort. Libero, Victoria Espinoza set the tone with 35 digs, followed by Redding's 31. Kenzie Nies recorded her season high with 16 digs in the match. The front once again proved a difference maker with 18 combined blocks in the match. Miah Willamson was a force up front with 6 blocks, followed by 4 from Haley Sanchez. Julia Zamfir picked up 3 blocks with Aija Redding and Maram Mahfouz picking up a pair each. 

Up Next - The Hawks (14-8) have a bye on Wednesday as they prepare to take on Diablo Valley College (0-16) on Friday. The game was originally scheduled to be at DVC, but due to gym renovations the match will take place at CRC. The game will be livestreamed via CRCHawks.com with the match beginning at 6:30pm.
