Sophomores Help Lead CRC Past Pirates

Sacramento, CA - The Hawks took the court for their last regular season home match of the 2021 season. Celebrating the sophomores, Miah Williamson and Giovanna Parino, the Hawks looked to sink the Pirates and even up the season series. After an exciting match, the Hawks brought home their 7th conference victory and 14th overall win. 

Miah Williamson tallied 11 kills on 28 swings, earning a .357 kill %. This brings Williamson's season total to 227 kills while hititng .367 (11th in state). Aija Redding and Emma Eigenberger both contributed 10 kills to the Hawk total. Maram Mahfouz tallied 6 kills while hitting .357 on her own as well to help spread the offense around for CRC. Sophomore setter, Giovanna Parino tallied her team leading 7th double-double on the season with 24 assists and 13 digs. Grace Maddock added 17 assists of her own but fell one dig short of picking up a double-double. 

Cosumnes River combined for 19 blocks (18 assisted), 98 digs, and 9 service aces in the four set match. Miah Williamson led the team with 4 service aces, followed by a pair from Giovanna Parino and Aija Redding. Four Hawks tallied double digit totals for digs during the match. Victoria Espinoza added 24 digs to her season total of 354 (17th in state). Aija Redding picked up a double-double of her own with 23 digs to go along with her 10 kills. Kenzie Nies tallied a season high with 17 digs followed by Parino's 13. Along the front line, the Hawks were dominant, picking up 19 blocks. Julia Zamfir tallied 6 assisted blocks, with Emma Eigenberger, Maram Mahfouz, and Miah Williamson picking up 3 assited blocks apiece. 

Up Next - The Hawks are on the road for their last three games of the regular season. Wednesday 11/10 will see CRC (16-9) head up the freeway to take on cross-town rival Sacramento City College (7-14). Fans will not be allowed to attend in person.
