CRC LOOKS TO EXTEND UNDEFEATED STREAK AGAINST SEQUOIAS

VISALIA, Calif.- The Cosumnes River men's soccer team is coming off one of their best performances of the season in their home match against Modesto JC.  The Hawks will look to continue their stretch of impressive play when they head south to take on Sequoias this afternoon in Visalia.

Cosumnes River played undefeated Modesto JC last Friday at CRC to a 1-1 draw, playing their most complete match of the season.  "We came out with high energy and played physical," said assistant coach Brandon Evangelista of the team's performance against the Pirates.  "In the first 25 minutes, we played the 'CRC style' of playing… switching the ball, playing balls quickly, and taking the wind out of Modesto."  The Hawks scored early when Luis Acosta scored on a header, and CRC dominated most of the match.  Acosta was recently named CRC's Student-Athlete of the Week.  However, Modesto JC scored a goal on a 30 foot shot to tie things up, and the match eventually ended in a draw.  "We tied a team we out played and out hustled," said Evangelista.

CRC will look to increase their current undefeated streak to three matches this afternoon, when they take on the Giants of the College of the Sequoias.  The Giants have struggled thus far in the Central Valley Conference, currently 0-2 in the CVC, and 2-7-1 overall.  "We just have to keep it simple and play our game," said Evangelista in terms of the team's game plan for today's match.  "If we start to do too much and force the balls into areas then we could possible lose the game."  "We have to understand to respect Sequoias and don't let them stay with us and just beat the will to play out of them."
