Hawks drop game 1 heartbreaker to San Mateo 6-4.

Neither Matt Stafford (Pleasant Grove), or Cameron Keup (Franklin) has the stuff they wanted to have in the opening game of this three game series against College of San Mateo in the second round of the CCCAA playoffs.

Even though the score was close at 6-4, the Bulldogs had just a little more offense with a three run home run in the eighth inning which was the deciding factor. The Hawks came right back with a two run shot by Chris Loeb (Jesuit) in the bottom of the inning which narrowed the gap.

Jordan Yu (Pleasant Grove) had driven in two runs which made the game 3-2 in the sixth inning with a bases loaded single following walks to Brooks Day (Elk Grove) and Brian Morley (Jesuit) and a single by Robert Daugherty (Pioneer).

In addition to Yu and Loeb, Devin Pettengill (Yuba City)  and Nicco Toni (Pleasant Grove) had two hits apiece for the Hawks while Brett Bloomfield (Davis) had a single as well.

Game two in the series is a must win for the Hawks and will be played at 1 pm on Saturday at Conway Field
