Hawks pound Gavilan over the weekend.

Friday:

The Hawks pitchers no-hit all of the Rams except Tyler Fhurong who had both of the Gavilan hits as Anthony Castaneda started and went the first five innings. Castaneda gave up one hit, walked three, and struck out 8 while picking up his second win on the season. Marcus Helm came on in the sixth and finished out the game for the Hawks giving up a hit and run which scored after a walk, stolen base, and wild pitch and the Rams final single. Helm walked one and struck out 2.

The Hawks hitters fared much better as they collected nine hits and took 11 free passes from the Rams pitchers. Francisco Prado was the hit leader for the Hawks with a 3 for 4 day knocking in 2 runs as well. Brett Bloomfield and Billy Rockefeller each had two hits with Rockefeller havig the Hawks only extra base hit, a double in the bottom of the sixth inning.Both Bloomfield and Rockefeller each hadTrevor Ray and Damien Chavez each added a hit for the Hawks who also left 11 runners on base in the game.

Saturday:

The Hawks broke out the lumber on Saturday collecting 24 hits against the Rams, 18 of which were singles, as the Hawks only had 5 doubles and one homerun in their crushing of Gavilan. 

The first inning was wild as the Hawks scored 5 times on just two hits. They gatherd two walks, one hit batter and received one baserunner by an error from the Rams. It was that kind of day for the Rams as the Hawks scored at least one run in every inning with 5 in the first and the seventh innings.

The top of the Hawks lineup was dangerous as they went 19-29 with 7 walks and 19 Rbi's and accounted for all of the Hawks extra base hits. Trevor Ray led the way as the leadoff guy with a 5 for 5 day with 2 walks and 5 runs scored. Brett Bloomfield had two Rbi's with his 4 for 7 day from the number two spot. Brian Morley went just 3 for 3, but also had 4 walks while driving in 3 and scoring 5. Billy Rockefeller had the most damaging day as he collected two hits, one a three-run homer and another on an Rbi double in the the eighth inning. Rockefeller also drove in a run when he was hit by a pitch in the first inning as he totaled 6 Rbi's on the day. Jordan Estes was 2 for 4 on the day with a big double in the first inning.Peyton Wheatley added two hits for the Hawks with an Rbi as well.  

John Treat Francisco Prado and Daniel Vitoria all had a hit to round out the CRC hit barrage.

Hawks pitchers gave up seven hits and 5 walks in the game with Josh Hook grabbing his first win of the season, going the first innings giving up two hits, one run, and striking out two. Treat was next man on the mound for the next three innings also giving up two hits, one walk and striking out four. Daniel Vitoria, Billy Rockefeller and Tim Tarrant all tossed an inning to finish off the Rams.

The Hawks improved their record to 8-6 on the year with a road trip to Modesto to open conference play against the Pirates who are 4-5 on the season. The Hawks will play at Modesto on Tuesday, return home for the rematch on Thursday at 2:30 and finish the series at Modesto on Saturday the 4th at 1pm.
