Hawks Dominant in Season Opener

Hawks Dominant in Season Opener

The 2020 Season could not have gotten off to a better start then what the Hawks showed on Friday afternoon at Conway Field. Sophmore Owen Hunt got the call as the starting pitcher for the Hawks and was absolutley dominating in his four innings of work. (4 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 1 BB and 5 K's) The Hawks got on the board and scored four times in the bottom of the second inning. Then added five more runs in the bottom of 4th to get out ahead 9-0 thru 5 innings of play.

Freshman Troy Melendez (Bear Creek HS) went 2x4 on the day with a double. Sophmore Henry Degman (El Cerrito HS) hit a booming triple in the 4th inning that scored 2 runs and Bryson McArn (Pleasant Grove HS) chimed in with 2 Rbi's on the day as well. In relief of Hunt, Freshman Ryan Tipton (Cordova HS) recorded his first Collegiate Win and Freshman Alan Garcia (Sheldon HS) recorded his First Collegiate save.

'We are extremely young and our guys got off to a great start. My staff and I are proud of the way we excuted the little things. Lots of work still to get done but getting that first win on opening day is always a good feeling." (Head Coach Donnie Mico)

The Hawks return to action tomorrow afternoon at 12:00 pm (First Pitch) against Shasta for the finale of 2 Game home stand.
