Coach Donnie Mico and his young Hawks faced a very tough Skyline JC baseball team Friday afternoon.

Friday morning came very fast for the young CRC Hawks just hours after beating visiting Mendocino JC, the boys were on a bus headed to South San Francisco to take on the #18 Preseason ranked Skyline JC Trojans in an afternoon affair.

The Hawks sent Freshman Anthony Galindo (Dixon HS) to the mound on Friday vs. the Trojans and he was met by a very experienced sophomore laden line up. The Trojans jumped on the board against the Hawks early and often in the first inning and continued their pesky ways of scoring in the first four innings of the contest. Taking advantages of a few miss plays, the young Hawks could not find an answer Friday afternoon. Skyline applied pressure both offensively and defensively to our young Hawks. Unfortunately the bats and defense after the 4th inning deficit were not enough for the Hawks to make a comeback. Down 7-0, Sophomore Henry Degnan (El Cierrito HS) hit an absolute no doubt home run to left field, that ended the scoreless streak in the top of the 7th inning. Freshman Gabriel Ramirez (Capital Christian HS) doubled in the same inning but the rally was short lived. Freshman Adrian Sanchez (Davis HS) threw three solid innings in relief to help stop the bleeding the Hawks were enduring early on in the game but again his valiant effort was just not enough.

"Our ball club is young and their youth and lack of big game environment showed this afternoon. We got off on the wrong foot and it snow balled those first few innings. It is good for them to play in this kind of environment early in the year because it can only help us when Big 8 play starts. We will take the positives from today and move towards righting the ship tomorrow so we can stick to mantra." ("Win at home, Split on the Road!") - Head Coach Don Mico

The Hawks are tabbed to play Game 2 of the 2 game set tomorrow. First pitch is slated for 12:00 pm (PST) at Skyline Jc.
