Call it a bit of the "Night Game Blues" but the short turn around from Friday nights thriller to today's early afternoon game did not fair well for the Hawks. The Blue Devils of Merced defeated the Hawks 14-4 in Game 2 of the 2 game series.

In the top of the second inning Freshman Bryson McArn (Pleasant Grove HS) led off with a single, also went 2x3 on the day. Sophomore Taylor Maldonado (Bear Creek HS) doubled McArn in on a 1-2 count fastball that was laced to left and that was the major highlight on the day for the Hawks.

Freshman Adrian Sanchez (Davis HS) started the game for the Hawks and got into a bit of trouble in the bottom of the second inning today. Sanchez allowed a lead off single, walk, walk, another single and a double before being lifted for Freshman Ryan Tipton (Cordova HS) came in relief and did not fair well either. Tipton then gave up a double, walk and a booming 3 Run Homer to the clean-up hitter. All in all the Blue Devils put up an 8 spot in the bottom half of the inning.

The Hawks are now (4-4, 0-0 Big 8) on the season and will have a full slate of practices this week, leading up to their biggest road trip of the season when they travel to the College of The Sequoias for a 3 game set Friday/Saturday and Sunday.
