Freshman Troy Rice (Capital Christian HS) got the spot start for the Hawks (6-6, 0-0 Big 8) on Tuesday vs. host Cabrillo College and Rice did not disappoint. Tuesday also saw the Hawks go into their first extra inning contest of the year and pulling out a much needed road victory 6 to 2 against The Seahawks of Cabrillo. Rice went 6 innings allowing just one run on the day and was effective in and around the strike zone all day. The offense got things going very early in the game by putting up 2 quick runs. Sophmore Brett Graber (Captial Christian HS) and Freshman Jack Painter (Davis HS) singled to start the day and both would score on fielder choices during the top half of the first.

Cabrillo held the Hawks in check until the top of 13th inning and that is when the fireworks went off. Painter led off the inning by getting hit by a pitch and effectively run the base paths on two wild pitches. Sophmore Henry Degnan (El Cerrito HS) singled to left then Freshman Gabriel Ramirez (Capital Christian HS) hit a go ahead double to the left field fence scoring both Degnan and Painter. Next up was Freshman Darrion Eddie (Tomball HS) hit a booming 2 run home run to seal and cap the game for the Hawks. Winning pitcher for the Hawks was Sophmore Jorge Garcia (Cosumnes Oaks HS), but it was a 3 man effort and a big reason for that was Freshman Anthony Galindo (Dixon HS) who held the Seashawks down for 5 strong innings. Degnan appeared for the first time this season for the Hawks, as he came in to close the game out in the 13th with a clean inning of work.

The Hawks return home this Thursday vs. Yuba College with first pitch set for 2:00 pm at Conway Field.
