Big Week for Hawks Moves their Record to 7-5

The Cosumnes River College (CRC) Hawks finished 3-1 this week, moving to 7-5 on the season.  On Thursday, the Hawks lost 6-0 to the College of San Mateo Bulldogs (12-1), but bounced back to beat the Fresno City College Rams (2-5) in a 6-4 win.  Both games took place at San Mateo.  On Friday, the Hawks were back home to take on the now 0-4 Lassen College Cougars. The Hawks won the first game 10-2 and the second game 9-0.  CRC was led by the performances from Becky Pedersen (Ukiah, CA/Ukiah HS) and Danielle Pfenning (Lodi, CA/Lodi HS) on the mound and Mckinzie Spriggs (Galt, CA/Galt HS) at the plate.

 

Coach Kristy Schroeder was proud of her team's performance this weekend.  She stated, "This was a great week to analyze the strengths of our team as well as areas we need to improve on.  Heading into conference it is important that we hone in on the little details and keep getting everyone involved in the games."

 

CRC vs. San Mateo

The Bulldogs held the Hawks to just three hits and won the game 6-0.  Aliah Cisneros (Stockton, CA/Tokay HS), Mckinzie Spriggs (Galt, CA/Galt HS), and Daisy Angeles (Elk Grove, CA/Elk Grove HS) tallied the Hawks three hits, but the Hawks could not muster any runs. Pedersen took the loss giving up five runs on six hits. 

 

CRC vs. Fresno

CRC rallied back after their loss to beat the Fresno City Rams 6-4 in a close game.  The Hawks scored six runs in the first inning and were led by Audrey Brookins (Galt, CA/Galt HS).  Brookins finished the game 2-3 and tallied three RBIs for the Hawks.  Becky Pedersen (Ukiah, CA/Ukia HS) led CRC by pitching four shutout innings and only giving up two hits to help the Hawks secure the win.

 

CRC vs. Lassen

The CRC Hawks took on The Lassen Community College Cougars in a double header to close out the week.  The Hawks won the first game 10-2 and accumulated 11 hits as a team.  Spriggs was accountable for two of those hits as well as three RBIs for the Hawks.  Pfenning pitched a complete game and only allowed five hits to the Cougars, and she also hit a homerun in one of her plate appearances.  CRC won the second game 9-0.  Pederson pitched four shutout innings for the second time this week and only allowed one hit.  Spriggs went 2-3 from the batter's box and tallied four RBIs and one homerun.  Ryley Krum (Elk Grove, CA/Elk Grove HS) also hit a homerun for the Hawks.
