HAWKS BATTLE RIVAL BEAVERS TOMORROW NIGHT

SACRAMENTO, Calif.- The Cosumnes River women's basketball team looks for their first Big 8 conference victory tomorrow night when they take on crosstown rival American River College.  Tipoff for tomorrow night's contest is scheduled for 5:30 at ARC.

Head Coach Coral Sage and her team open a two-game road trip on Friday night, when they take on the rival Beavers of American River.  The Hawks enter tomorrow night's contest with an overall record of 5-9, having dropped their conference opener against the Diablo Valley Vikings 76-45 on Tuesday night.  CRC is led by a balanced lineup, with only four players recording double-digits in starts this season.  Guard Sam Stinson led CRC against Diablo Valley with 19 points, hitting five three's on the night to pace the Hawks offense.  Forward Jayla Henderson contributed five points and six rebounds on the night, while guard Danille Robbins recorded four points and four rebounds for CRC in the loss.  Cosumnes River will once again look toward a balanced attack Friday night against American River as the Hawks look to record their first conference victory of the season.

American River enters tomorrow night's contest on a four game winning streak, having defeated Sacramento City on Tuesday night 61-47 in their conference opener.  The Beavers are led by a talented trio of freshmen and sophomore guard Jazlynne Macklin.  Macklin leads the Beavers with 9.8 points per contest.  The Beavers are also led by freshmen guards Kamari Hunter and Demontra Harrison, who are scoring 9.6 and 7.7 points per contest respectively this season.  Freshman Haylee James has been a force inside for American River, scoring 6.2 points while averaging nearly seven rebounds per contest for the Beavers.

Cosumnes River continues their roadtrip next Tuesday against Sacramento City, before returning home next Friday for a contest against the Wolverines of Sierra College.  Tipoff for that game is scheduled for 7:30.
