The Lady Hawks are ranked 10th with an overall record of 17-11 in the 2014 CCCAA Women's Basketball Northern California Regional Bracket. They are traveling on Friday, February 28th to face Solano College a team with an overall record of 25-4, ranking them 7th in the bracket. The 2nd round playoff game starts at 7:00 PM, and this will be the 3rd meeting between these two squads.
Elk Grove, Calif. The Women Hawks late game rally was not enough to beat the Santa Rosa Junior College Bear Cubs. The Hawks fought hard and never gave up through out the game but fell short towards the last minutes of the game, losing 63-78. The depth on the bench for the Bear Cubs was a key role that helped them get the win. The whole game the Hawks only had two players on the bench to sub with as appose to the Bear Cubs who had 5. The Bear Cubs could constantly sub in an entire different unit, always keeping fresh legs on the court. With the loss, the Hawks are now 12-9 overall, and 3-4 in the Conference, ranking them 5th in the Big 8. The Bear Cubs are now 15-7 overall, 7-0 in the Conference, ranking them 1st in the Big 8.
The Hawks had a very convincing win with a score of 61-46 over the Modesto Junior College Pirates! The Women Hawks are now 12-8 overall and 3-3 in the Big 8 Conference. MJC is now 6-11 overall and 0-6 in the Big 8 Conference.
Janie Myles, a sophomore forward for the women’s basketball team, has been named CRC’s Student-Athlete of the Week for the winter holiday break. This is the second time Myles has received the honor.
Head Coach Coral Sage and her team return to action this week following a two-week hiatus. The Hawks will look to extend their current winning streak to eight games this afternoon when they tip-off in the Solano Showdown tonight against Shasta College of Redding.

The matchup takes place in the opening round of the CRC Invitational, taking place today through Saturday at Cosumnes River College.

With only 3 returning sophomores, 2 sophomore transfers and the addition of 9 talented freshmen, the CRC Women’s Basketball team is looking forward to continuing the success of CRC Women’s Basketball and the goal of winning a conference championship. Although the Hawks will be young this year their heart goes much further than their age or experience.
